ENTREPRENEUR JYOTSNA RAJ’S JOURNEY WITH JAWED HABIB
The idea of beauty and grooming has evolved far beyond traditional gender boundaries. Today, men and women alike place equal importance on wellness, self-care, and personal presentation.
In this changing landscape, salons have emerged as important spaces of confidence-building and professional grooming. One such space in Ranchi is the Jawed Habib salon at Harmu, led by entrepreneur Jyotsna, whose journey reflects resilience, professionalism, and social sensitivity.
Soft-spoken yet confident, Jyotsna Raj entered the beauty and wellness industry six to seven years ago, becoming the first in her service-class family to venture into entrepreneurship.
Choosing a profession still often underestimated, she stepped into business with determination but not without challenges. Her timing proved particularly difficult—she had barely started her franchise when the COVID-19 pandemic brought daily life and businesses to a standstill.

Like many entrepreneurs, she faced uncertainty and emotional strain as operations halted and the future seemed unclear.
What helped her endure that phase was the steady support and structured guidance of her parent brand, Jawed Habib Hair & Beauty.
The brand’s strong systems, training framework, and operational clarity enabled her to stabilise and eventually grow.
As Jyotsna recalls, the experience taught her patience and reinforced her belief in the value of professional backing and consistent quality.
Quality, in fact, remains the cornerstone of her work.
She emphasises that Jawed Habib has built its reputation on delivering dependable, world-class services at accessible prices—an expectation she considers non-negotiable for her clients.
Regular training sessions and workshops organised by the parent company ensure that staff skills remain updated, blending technique with customer-centric service.
This commitment, she believes, is what keeps clients satisfied and loyal in an increasingly competitive market.
Looking ahead, Jyotsna’s vision extends beyond her salon.
She is now planning a dedicated beauty training programme aimed at creating employment opportunities, especially for women.
Deeply aware of rural women’s aspirations, she has thoughtfully mapped how such training can offer financial independence, confidence, and long-term social change.
She credits her success to the constant support of her husband and the understanding of her children.
Despite a demanding professional life, she takes immense pride in their academic achievements.
Her son, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, went on to earn a master’s degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam, while her daughter is currently pursuing her undergraduate studies at a college under the University of Delhi.
In Jyotsna’s journey, grooming becomes more than aesthetics—it becomes a pathway to dignity, opportunity, and empowerment.
